I'm a lifetime resident of Plainfield. I've seen many changes both positive and negative. I understand the need for business in the Plainfield area to help with our tax revenue.
I believe this development, Dunkin Donuts at Arnold & Oak Street should be located in an area suited for food service retail. This lot/location is better suited for a professional type business. A food type business will create additional traffic, in the neighborhood and frustrating drivers attempting to enter from RT 59.
If you look at RT 59 South of Lockport Street, you see that a North bound vehicle cannot make a turn going West on Commercial, Ottawa or Chicago Street. Commercial Street was closed completely due to traffic flow. Ottawa & Chicago Streets, heading east, can access RT 59 going south. South bound RT 59 can access Ottawa or Chicago Street going west. I bring this up to point out the issue with North bound RT 59 attempting to enter Arnold or Oak Street. This traffic will then move to RT 126 to Arnold to enter Dunkin Donuts. This will create additional traffic in this area at a time when local residents are trying to get out of their driveways. Also, the additional traffic, in this area, with small children playing.
If a professional building was on this lot, then there would be less traffic and therefore less impact to the residents.

There is NO need for another DD so close to the other locations. This does not fit in the vision of the downtown area.

I am all for bringing a Dunkin Donuts to Arnold & Oak St. I also live just one block off of Route 59 so I am fully aware of the traffic concerns. I appreciate having all the shops and restaurants close by. That's to be expected when we chose to live close to the downtown area. I hope the new development is a success and draws more people into Downtown Plainfield.

I agree with Gary Countryman. There are other parts of town where this would be a better fit!. There are numerous empty stores etc. across from the Village Hall! They could put in a Dunkin Donut there and it wouldn't be in anyones front yard! The public could have their donuts, the residents on Oak and Arnold could enjoy their yards without sharing them with donut patrons and our children would be safe from the massive amounts of traffic.
