Make positive change happen in your neighborhood today
Bronzeville Legends Initiative
Chicagoan Chris Devins set out to bring awareness to his neighborhood’s rich culture and history by celebrating its prolific past residents. After building support from his Bronzeville neighbors via Civic ArtWorks Chris was empowered to work with community leaders that helped him install a series of murals throughout the neighborhood featuring the likenesses of former Bronzeville residents Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, and Lorraine Hansberry. Museum Campus Transportation Study
At the direction of the Metropolitan Planning Council and supported by the Mayor’s Office and the Chicago Department of Transportation, Civic ArtWorks provided Chicagoland citizens with the opportunity to share and build support for their ideas focused on relieving the transportation issues that have plagued the Museum Campus. One of those ideas, the Super Loop Rapid Streetcar garnered a great deal of support and media coverage. Regenerate Chicago Neighborhoods
Civic ArtWorks is proud to be working alongside ChicagoQuest, with the support of the Hive Fund for Connected Learning at The Chicago Community Trust, to develop a new high school curriculum focused on civic engagement, activism, and neighborhood planning, design, and development. As a result of the students’ class work, 65 campaigns for positive neighborhood change have been created in 39 different neighborhoods and 31 different wards.
